Here are some ideas for tandem bicycle trips all over the UK and further afield:
1. Have TOTALLY-TANDEMS deliver the tandem to a start point of your choice and pedal away. Delivery is subject to a small surcharge.
Or
2. Collect the Tandem from a TOTALLY-TANDEMS base and fix to a car roof rack (specialist tandem attachment available to rent for £10 per weekend/week) or for Circe Tandems these will fit on a standard bike rack or in the back of a medium/large car with the seats down.
One Day Tandem Rides
Windsor Great Park - Ideal for tandem novices as the terrain is pretty much traffic free, reasonably flat and goes on for miles. We can meet you with the tandem at one of the Crown Estate car parks and you can spend the day visiting Savill Gardens, Virginia Water Lake, Smiths Lawn (famous polo ground) Windsor Castle, Air Force Memorial and the Thames! Take a picnic with you or indulge in coffee and cake in the Savill Garden tea shop. At the end of the day we will collect the Tandem from you at the car park. Supported London to Brighton Tandem Rides - if riding London to Brighton is on your list of things to do in life then why not book a space on one of our fully organised and supported London to Brighton by tandem days. The price of the day is £120 per tandem (price includes Tandem delivery and collection, support vehicle assistance all day, transportation of luggage to Brighton, comprehensive route map, Start and Finish line photographs, certificate of achievement) Scheduled trips operate on Fridays and Saturdays as an ideal start to a weekend break in Brighton. Weekend Tandem Rides / Tours
National Cycle Route N22 (Downs Link) - Guildford to Shoreham on Sea
This route is one of our favourites and is ideal for customers who collect their tandem from our base in Ascot or who we meet with the tandem at Brookwood Station (main line from Waterloo) National Cycle Route N22 runs from Guildford to Shoreham on Sea along a disused and traffic free railway line (approx 45 miles long) We usually pick up the N22 where it meets the A281 in Shalford, though some of our customers like to join the trail at its start in Guildford centre. One Week Tandem Holidays / Tours
FRANCE - Meet at Brookwood station and cycle down to Newhaven via the Downs Link cycle path, from Newhaven jump on a ferry to Dieppe and away you go. Alternatively you can put the tandem on/in the car and drive to the ferry ports. Although you cannot technically book a tandem on to a ferry (no option on the booking form) we just book them on as normal bikes and have never had a problem at either end. We haven't had a chance to ride it yet but you could take on the Avenue Verte cycle route from St Pauls Cathedral to Paris.
DEVON - many of our customers recommend the cycling routes of Devon including the Tarka Trail please click for Tarka Trail map This area is best accessed by car which you can park up and leave for a week or two.
If you are looking to book a tandem on a flight our Circe Helios tandems can be boxed up and accepted on most airlines. Our Thorn tandems cannot reasonably be boxed and due to their size you will need to check with the airline.
Multi Week Tandem Holidays / Tours
LEJOG / JOGLE - Every season we provide hire tandems to customers undertaking this amazing challenge. The hirer is responsible for collection and return of the tandem to our bases. We are working on an affordable bike courier solution to the start and finish points and will post information on our news site as soon as we have arrangements in place. LEAVE THE CAR AT HOME - If you have holiday accommodation booked in France or Spain why not leave the car at home or shun the airlines and travel the Green way on a tandem. An increasing number of our tandem hire customers are riding to their second homes. Travelling this way extends the holiday, gets you fit and minimizes your impact on the planet.
